Stratford Shopping Centre was announced as a Silver winner in the Zero Waste Scheme, celebrating the fantastic work that organisations are doing to drive down waste from landfill.

The Zero Waste Awards, organised by the Environment Media Group, aren’t competitive and entrants are judged purely on their merits. Winners are awarded with gold, silver, bronze or highly commended for their efforts to prevent waste at source within their organisations.

Entries are welcomed all year round for this ongoing awards scheme, with the next round of entries open until August 2016.

Speaking of the achievement, Stratford Shopping Centre, Deputy Centre Manager, Tony Whitehorn said: “We are thrilled to have been acknowledged by the Zero Waste Awards for the initiatives that we have applied to create a more sustainable environment by making the most of our resources and reducing waste. The whole team at Stratford Shopping Centre work extremely hard all year round and fully deserve this award for their efforts.”

One of the judges, Karen Cannard, creator and co-founder of the Rubbish Diet Challenge said:

“The Zero Waste Awards recognises leadership and action amongst those who are working hard to create a more sustainable and resourceful economy, embedding ambitious waste reduction practices into the heart of their organisations.”
