The Business Lab Courses

The business lab are offering three incredible courses, Preparing to Work in Adult Social CareExploring Entrepreneurship and Steps to Enterprise. For more information, see below or visit The Business Lab in store:

Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care

Duration: 3 weeks – 30 hours per week
Location: Newham College, East Ham Campus
High Street South, E6 6ER
Level: Level 2 Certificate
Cost: £350. Course available at no cost to unemployed applicants in receipt of benefits.

This short course is for people who would like to work with adults in a wide range of health and social care settings. It will develop learners’ knowledge of a variety of topics which are fundamental to working in adult social care, including:

  • The importance of communication
  • Personal development
  • Equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Health and safety
  • Duty of care
  • Implementing person-centred approaches towards care

Candidates should be at Level 1 in Literacy and Numeracy. On completion, you will receive a nationally recognised certificate at Level 2. We have details of vacancies within this sector and can prepare eligible candidates for interview and selection. Progression opportunities include jobs, further training and apprenticeships.

Exploring Entrepreneurship 

Duration: 3 weeks
Location: Business Lab, Units 61-62
Stratford Centre, London E15 1XF

Cost: £25, Course available at no cost to unemployed applicants in receipt of benefits.

A one-day workshop for all budding entrepreneurs.
Take the first step towards your dream. Come along to our one-day introductory workshop to:

  • Get a great introduction to enterprise
  • Learn from the success stories of other entrepreneurs
  • Identify essential characteristics of entrepreneurs
  • Complete your own skills assessment
  • Explore how to generate new ideas

Steps to Enterpise

Duration: 3 weeks
Location: Business Lab, Units 61-62
Stratford Centre, London E15 1XF
Cost: £300. Course available at no cost to unemployed applicants in receipt of benefits.

A three week intensive business start-up course packed with information, guidance, tips and advice. This hands-on practical course will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to build a great business.

Together we will explore:

  • How to build a business plan
  • Business staus and legislation
  • How to protect your intellectual property
  • How to use market research
  • The many Ps of marketing
  • The social media big 5
  • The art of networking
  • Pitching your ideas
  • Insights from guest speakers
  • Tools and resources for your business

  2. The competition is open to all U.K. residents aged 18 years and over with a UK postal address.

  4. The competition will run from Wednesday 14th March 16:00 GMT and will close on Monday 19th March at 10:00 GMT.
  5. This competition will run via Facebook at facebook.com/stratfordcentre. To enter, entrants must like our page and comment on one of our competition posts with their favourite Easter egg.
  6. One entry is permitted per person. No purchase necessary.
  7. Stratford Shopping Centre cannot accept any liability for any entries which are late, lost or incomplete.
  8. A winner will be chosen at random.
  9. The chosen winner will be contacted via Facebook and must reply by 10:00 GMT on Tuesday 20th March, or another winner will be selected. The selection is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  10. The winner will need to be available on 22nd March at 15:50 GMT to use their prize. If they are not available at this time another winner will be chosen.
  11. The prize is a family ticket to see Peter Rabbit at the Picturehouse Cinema in Stratford. A family ticket covers either a family of four, two adults and two children, or three children and one adult. Each child will also receive free popcorn and a drink. The screening for this prize is 15:50 GMT.
  12. There are no cash alternatives: the prize must be accepted as offered, is non-transferable, subject to availability and cannot be exchanged. Products/prizes obtained through the promotion are not subject to refund or exchange.
  13. Stratford Shopping Centre is the provider of the prize and makes no representation or warranty in relation to prizes provided and to the fullest extent permitted by law shall have no liability to any entrant or winner in relation to any prize, its fitness for purpose, merchantability or otherwise.

Stratford Shopping’s Emoji Crafts!

February 10th at Stratford we had artistic geniuses come along to make some fantastic emoji themed crafts! And the outcome was brilliant…they all look fantastic! Take a look at how good they look over on our Facebook page!

Mrs Claus’ Kitchen

On Saturday 16th December, children helped Mrs Claus in her kitchen and decorated some yummy gingerbread men and Christmas cookies.

Families also joined in with her Christmas carols as she performed throughout the day!

Santa’s Arrival

Santa Claus flew onto Central Square on his sleigh on Saturday 9th December and met the children of Stratford with his cheeky elves. St John’s Church choir also performed on the mall spreading Christmas cheer!

Elf Yourself

On Saturday we had a very special workshop where young shoppers could become a fully certified elf for the day and shoppers could take part in the dancing head station!

Christmas Lights Switch On

Rethink Remembrance

We teamed up with The Royal British Legion to ask you to#RethinkRemembrance and what the poppy means to you.

Each day over the weekend of Friday 10th, Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th November, we asked you to write message, attach it to a poppy and add the poppy to our giant remembrance wall.

So many of you came down on the day that we raised a massive £2,066 for the Royal British Legion!

Thank you to everyone who came  along and helped contribute to this wonderful cause over the weekend.

Who You Gonna Call?

We had such a great time at our Who You Gonna Call Event on Saturday 28th October! Shoppers where able to join in the ghost hunt around Stratford Shopping Centre and become a real life Ghost Buster and help rid Stratford of any ghosts that found their way in!

Not only this, a real life Ghostbuster Car made its way into the centre and shoppers where encouraged to take pictures!
